Community Scholarship Opportunities

We just got word of a few public scholarships available.  Remember, looking for private scholarships should continue throughout your education.  Every year, there are thousands of public scholarships that go unclaimed due to lack of public interest.  Invest a couple of hours per week in looking for, and applying to, different scholarship programs and it could really pay off.

NOTE: Reputable scholarship programs do not require any payments or financial commitments from the applicant. If a scholarship program asks you to pay an application fee, it is a SHAM - talk to Neumont's Financial Aid Department for more information about different public scholarship programs.

1. Deadline MAY 31st: Literary Essay Scholarship
Any member of the U.S. or Canadian high school classes of 2011 or 2012 including home schoolers.

2. Deadline JUNE 1, 2011: 2011 Best Buy Scholarship Program
This year the Best Buy @15 Scholarship Program will award 1,000 scholarships of $1,000 each to students in grades 9-12 living in the U.S. or Puerto Rico who plan to enter a full-time undergraduate course of study upon high school graduation.

Who’s Eligible? We’re looking for folks with solid grades, who are involved in volunteer efforts in their schools and communities, and/or have a work history. Students must be planning to attend a college, university or technical school in the fall immediately following their high school graduation. 9–12th grade students from private, public, alternative or home schools are eligible to apply. Grants are a one-time award, so if you were a winner in the past, you aren’t eligible to apply again.
